Heatsink for semiconductors
A heatsink is a heat exchange component that transfers heat between a heat source and cooling medium via heat conduction, convection and radiation. Attached to heat-generating components such as CPUs and IGBTs, it uses high thermal conductivity materials like aluminum or copper with fins to expand the heat exchange area. Models without fans are passive heat sinks, while those equipped with fans or heat pipes are active ones, used to reduce temperature and protect components.
